About Me

Since the age of ten I have had the pleasure of calling Alaska my home. Prior to moving to Alaska I lived with my family in Stuttgart, Germany while my father was stationed at Patch Barracks with the U.S. Army. My journey to become a Couple/Marriage and Family Therapist began early in my life.
My family owns and operates a local Montessori preschool where I spent many wonderful years getting to know the children and their families. At the age of 19 I moved to Boulder, Colorado where I attended the Montessori Education Center of the Rockies and obtained my Infant and Toddler Montessori Teacher certification. I then had the privilege of working as the Toddler Montessori teacher at my family's school while I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

During this time I made the transition from working with children and families in a Montessori preschool setting to working in the field of mental health. As an undergraduate student I accepted a position as a Mental Health Associate with Anchorage Community Mental Health Services (ACMHS). While at ACMHS, I provided activity and skill-building therapy for children and adolescents and their families. In 2009, I moved to Ames, Iowa to pursue my Master of Science in Human Development and Family studies where I attended a Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) accredited Couple/Marriage and Family Therapy Program.

As a graduate student I had the privilege of providing therapy to culturally diverse individuals, couples and families who experienced a wide variety of mental health and relationship issues at the Iowa State University Couple and Family Therapy Clinic. During this time I also practiced as a Mental Health Intern at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility (FDCF) in Fort Dodge, Iowa. While at FDCF, I provided therapy to male inmates in both the general population and segregation units who experienced mental health issues, substance abuse issues, behavioral issues, dual diagnosis, and challenges with adjustment to prison. Since graduating with my masters degree I have gained additional experience working in the field of substance treatment.

As a  Licensed Marital and Family Therapist (LMFT) I now work primarily with individuals, couples and families in a private practice setting where relationships are often the focus of my work.

I live in Anchorage with my wonderful blended family.
